The Seahawks added depth at safety, signing free agent Maurice Alexander, a former starting strong safety for the St. Louis and Los Angeles Rams.
Alexander, 27, was a fourth-round pick in 2014 out of Utah State, where in 2011 was teammates with Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner as well as former Seahawks running back Robert Turbin.
Alexander was the Rams' starting strong safety in 2016, recording 50 tackles, two interceptions and four passes defensed in 14 games. He opened last season as a starter, but after starting the first four games of the season, he was inactive for Los Angeles' Week 5 loss to Seattle, then was waived the following week.
Alexander's signing is the second move this week to help the Seahawks at safety following the re-signing of Bradley McDougald earlier in the week, a player who started nine games last season.
